Sequential Taillights!

Updated on October 21, 2005

Here is my sequential taillight circuit pics / video of my work in progress.

I was inspired from the old original Cougar and Thunderbirds from the 60's that had sequential taillights
and decided that I had the skill and desire to reproduce it for myself.

Here you can see an overview of the finished circuit that I designed on paper and then built on a piece of generic Radio Scrap circuit board.
This is one of my most complex designed circuits to date using 2 circuit boards side by side and connected together.
This, like all my circuits, took some building / fixing / building as it's easy to get wires crossed on large designs but it's finally finished.

This first pic shows the finished board beside a printout of my design I made in MS-Paint ( truthfully! )

The next 2 pics are closeups of the front view of the circuit. Check out the all the status indicator LED’s I soldered on so I can diagnose problems visually
This in invaluable for finding what the hell went wrong when the board goes crazy after soldering something new.

This next shot shows the back of the circuit boards all soldered up. Now where did I solder that wire wrong??

This shows the 2 boards folded a bit and the proper FUSE for safety!

2 last pics added on Oct. 21/05 showing the finished circuit with the relay block wrapped up into it's final packaging and ready to install in the car.

Here's some video clips of the circuit running on the bench

This shows the circuit running with the left blinker selected.

This shows the COMPLETED circuit running with both the left and right blinker selected as well as hazzards.

Here's some video clips of the circuit running in the CAR!

The circuit has been installed successfully on Oct. 21, 2005 and it is in excellent working order!

This shows the circuit running in the car in all different modes. Brakes applied with left, right, and hazzards as well as brakes off with left, right, and hazzards. It even finishs with my alarm setting.

Note to everyone, unlike my headlight flasher circuit, I will not be publishing this circuit
as I took alot of time and pride in this one and want it to remain unique.

I welcome anyone else with adequate skills to design it on your own. That is my challenge to you!
